Gloria Macias Harrison, Chair
Gloria Macias Harrison was elected to the Board of Trustees in 2012. Trustee Macias Harrison has balanced two careers plus family and community activism since the early sixties. She is one of the founders of El Chicano (1969). Today, El Chicano publishes weekly along with nine other community weeklies.
Trustee Macias Harrison served as President of Crafton Hills College for 12 years and as Vice President of Instruction for six. She taught for 20 years at San Bernardino Valley College and was Dean of Humanities for three. She retired in 2011 and was elected to the San Bernardino Community College Board of Trustees in 2012.
Trustee Macias Harrison was a Governor's appointee on the California Commission on the Status of Women, and served on the California Council for the Humanities and numerous state committees on education.
In addition to serving for the past two and half years on the city's Charter Committee, she is a member of Kiwanis and is on the Board of the Valley Concert Association, the Brown Legacy, Crafton Hills Foundation, San Bernardino Valley College Foundation and is currently a member of the League of Women Voters, the American Association of University Women, and the Rialto Business and Professional Women. She serves on several advisory committees including the San Bernardino City Schools' Making Hope Happen and is Treasurer of the San Bernardino County School Board Association. As past President for the Inland Empire Community Foundation, she is active on the Foundation's Youth Grant Makers Program. Trustee Macias Harrison is the recipient of numerous awards.
Trustee Macias Harrison, a graduate of San Bernardino High School, received an AA degree from San Bernardino Valley College and a bachelor's and a master's degrees from the University of California, Riverside.
